Paul Mason
Yorkshire Based Artist
Paul Mason was a naturally creative and practical man whose warmth, humour, and curiosity shaped everything he did, especially his art.
A lifelong Yorkshireman, he drew constant inspiration from the landscapes, landmarks, and quiet details of the world around him, developing a style that was both expressive and carefully observed in his paintings.

Although he worked in a variety of hands-on roles throughout his life, painting was one of his true passions. Working mainly in watercolour, Paul built a body of work that ranged from sweeping landscapes to detailed natural subjects. Yorkshire scenery featured strongly in his paintings, reflecting his connection to the county.

Paul's aim was simple; share his paintings, see them enjoyed in people’s homes, and know his work meant something to family, friends, and others beyond that circle.

This website has been created to continue Paul’s aim. It will allow more people to discover and enjoy the pieces he dedicated so much time and passion to. By offering his paintings as prints and framed works, we his family, hope to celebrate his creativity and ensure his art continues to be seen and appreciated for years to come.

Paul created deeply personal pieces for family members too. Artwork that captured memories, interests, and shared moments. These included a painting of a beloved family dog for his parents, a motorbike piece for his brother, and a poppy field painted especially as a meaningful theme for his son’s home. Alongside these were studies of nature, including delicate winged insects, showing his patience and eye for fine detail.

He was always learning, exploring techniques, and engaging with other artists online, continually refining his approach. His work reflects observation, care, and a genuine enjoyment of the creative process, whether capturing the scale of a landscape or the character of a smaller subject.

Paul sadly passed away on 10th May 2025. In his later years, painting became more than just a hobby it gave him purpose, focus, and something positive to work towards. He had made the decision to properly put his artwork out into the world and began dedicating more time and energy to creating new pieces, with works like the Whitby painting becoming a key part of that push.
